A children’s book about determination, grit, and following your dream.

For Ages 3-10

A book for the brave kiddo in your life.

Why must sloths always be so slow and sleepy?

Sebastian is a young sloth who loves anything with speed. He yearns to run fast. Yet he is consistently told that his dream is impossible. Sloths are slow and sleepy; that is the way sloths have always been and that is the way they will always be. This answer is not good enough for Sebastian and he seeks the help of a jaguar who he admires for his speed. Jett Jaguar is a personal trainer who coaches Sebastian into shape.

Will Sebastian be prepared for an upcoming race? Will other animals laugh at him?

About the Author

Jessica Brierley is a former kindergarten and first-grade teacher.  She loves fiction and children’s books. She has a BA in English literature from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and a MA in education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City.

She is a serial reader and spends much of her free time devouring novels and perusing bookstores.  She enjoys writing fiction as well.  It has always been a dream of hers to not only write a children’s book, but to publish one of her creations and have it land on a bookshelf for the world to read.  She’s very happy to realize this dream with her first published book, SEBASTIAN, THE SPEEDY SLOTH.

Jessica grew up in Marin County, California and now lives in Rye, New York with her husband and three children.  They enjoy running around but they also enjoy a good sloth-like nap!
